Music icon John Farnham has become a grandfather for the first time — revealing the news on his 76th birthday on Tuesday.
He and wife Jill’s son James Farnham and his partner Dr Tessa Effendi welcomed their son named Jett John Farnham last month.
“We are over the moon about the arrival of this perfectly beautiful little boy,’’ John and Jill said.
“He’s already filled our hearts with so much love and we’re so proud and happy for James and Tessa. Welcome to the world, Jett!”
Jett arrived ahead of the expected date of birth, born at 5.26pm on Wednesday June 18 at St Vincent’s Private Hospital in Melbourne, weighing 3.176kgs.
“We thought we were excited to meet him — but turns out he was even more excited to meet us, arriving a little ahead of schedule,’’ James and Tessa said.
“Jett is our whole world in one tiny, noisy, perfect package. We’re smitten, we’re sleep-deprived, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
The family has yet to release pictures with statements issued via David Wilson from Watercooler Talent.
Music icon John has been quietly recovering well after undergoing jaw reconstruction surgery due to being diagnosed with oral cancer in 2022.
His other son Rob Farnham paid tribute to his father on his birthday.
“Massive happy birthday to my dad! You’re my idol and my hero. Love you heaps,’’ Rob posted to social media.
