In a heartwarming announcement on social media, the couple posted a picture of their 16-month-old Joey looking at a ‘big brother to-do list’.

“Joey’s still working out if he can sign the contract … he’s got until October,’’ the couple captioned the image.

“We’re excited to be adding to the family.”

Special needs teacher Brit gave birth in February last year in Geelong.

She and the Cats’ premiership captain said their dreams had come true after going through IVF to conceive.

The to do list, along with a little ultrasound, featured four items to tick off.

“Wake up at 7am, eat all your dinner, don’t throw balls at the baby and be gentle.”

In September 2022, the couple announced their first pregnancy by posing with a tiny Geelong jumper with Selwood’s signature number 14 on the back, along with the word “dad”.

Joel wrote: “Our dreams have come true. Brit and I are grateful to be able to share we have a little one coming into the world.

“We look forward to being ‘Mum and Dad’ and the world changing for us in the near future.

“What I have worked out through this process is that women are amazing and my wife is a superwoman. In a journey that hasn’t been easy, we have found a way, through great support and Brit staying positive.

“To couples, who are trying, have tried or can’t have a baby for some unfair reason, we see you and are sending love and positive energy your way.

“We can’t wait to meet you Baby Selwood, you will be very loved.”

Brit also commented on their tough journey to become parents.

The pair, who married in January 2020, became engaged in 2018.

Selwood, who played 355 games and won four premierships with the Cats, has been working as a commentator with Channel 7 since stepping away from the game.
