Jessica Hart reveals the secret to success: ‘Don’t take anything personally’
The modelling world can be cut-throat, but when top Aussie export Jess Hart was starting out she received some invaluable advice from her mum that has seen her survive the tough days.

A thick skin goes a long way in modelling, says Jess Hart.
One of our top model exports of the past decade, Hart learnt early “not to take things personally”.
“My mum said early on, if you’re an orange and the client wants an apple then it doesn’t make the orange any less beautiful,” the 33-year-old told Confidential.
“They just wanted something else that day. That little lesson was great and I’ve always carried it with me.
“I’ve learnt to love fashion, too. I was never all that interested for years but fashion really is a form of art.”
Hart is the face of fashion brand Mossimo’s new summer campaign, which she shot in the US recently. The collection is stocked in Target nationally.
“We shot in a really fantastic location outside of Palm Springs,” she said. “Every job always feels different … I really like that what I do in my career has been so varied.
“I always love to support and work with Australian brands … it makes me feel closer to home. There’s something about it when I put it on it makes me feel just more true to myself.”
Since winning the Dolly model comp in 2000 at the age of 15, Hart has consistently worked as one of our most in-demand models. She has featured in the world famous Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue and walked for the likes of Victoria’s Secret, Louis Vuitton, Dolce and Gabbana and Max Mara.
