Inside Rooey’s ‘exclusive A-list’ boys’ trip

Nick Riewoldt hand-picked a select group of high profile mates for a trip to Cobram Estate on Wednesday.

The posse included Riewoldt, his brother Alex, broadcaster Garry Lyon, superstar actor Eric Bana, radio host Brendan Fevola and podcaster Dylan Buckley.

They all flew on a charter plane to Boundary Bend to see first hand how the premium olive oil is made.

“Unbelievable, one of the best days I’ve had for a long time,” Lyon said.

“It is huge, they make more olive oil than the whole of America.”

Before he left Lyon said: “It’s exclusive A-list, it’s a cool group.”

Fevola told the Footy Talk podcast on Thursday that their return almost turned into a close shave at Essendon Airport.

“It was a beautiful jet, we spoke movies and we spoke footy and we had a beautiful lunch out there,’’ he said.

“Then we jumped back on the plane and as we landed, there was a plane that crashed and we landed behind it. All these fire trucks coming onto the tarmac, we had stolen a bit of oil and wine, and Eric Bana was very funny, he said ‘oh no we’ve smuggled too much wine and oil’. But then we looked over and there was a plane upside down. That was our junket we went on.”

Riewoldt, who won Celebrity MasterChef in 2021, is a Cobram Estate ambassador and is back in town for a short visit from Texas after moving over with his family earlier this year.

A plane with Sydney foodies and influencers including Tim Robards and Anna Heinrich, Jules Sebastian and chefs Anna Polyviou and Guy Turland, also joined for the experience.

Lyon discussed the day with his SEN breakfast co-host Tim Watson who worried when he heard a plane had flipped.

“I did have a terrible thought about it, when I heard a plane crash, I thought oh my godfather,” Watson said.

He added: “I know some people that were about to land right now and some big names were on the plane. I was on the phone to our boss trying to work out a new partner.”
