Former Hawthorn captain Jarryd Roughead and wife Sarah are expecting their second child.
The couple, who have a two year-old daughter, Pip, revealed their happy news on Tuesday night.
“We’re equally thrilled and excited as we are nervous,’’ Sarah told the Herald Sun.
“We can’t wait for Pip to begin her role as a doting big sister.”
A much-loved player, Roughead retired at the end of last season after 283 games, 578 goals, four premierships and a stack of accolades.
This season he accepted a coaching role at St Kilda.
His courage has inspired many after battling and overcoming a recurrence of melanoma in 2016.
Sarah is five months pregnant and after early bouts of morning sickness is feeling good.
The couple were glowing as they stepped out at the AFL’s season launch on Tuesday night.
Last month Sarah said she was enjoying a more relaxed lifestyle post-footy.
“Jarryd’s been a new man, the pressure is off and we can enjoy this next chapter,’’ she said.
