Hairdresser to AFL stars braced to fix post-iso hairstyles
He’s trimmed the mop of Marc Murphy and groomed Tim Cahill’s tresses. But there’s one thing this hairdresser to Melbourne’s AFL stars is dreading as footy players preen themselves ahead of the rebooted 2020 season.

A hairdresser to the AFL stars is braced for a parade of players wanting to fix their bad iso hairstyles in the lead up to the rebooted footy season.
Frank Ciccone, co-owner of Macleod salon Hair By Ciccone, and pictured with former Carlton and GWS player Dylan Buckley, cuts the hair of Blues stars Patrick Cripps, Tom Dekoning and Sam Philp.
His past clients include Marc Murphy, Bryce Gibbs, Kade Simpson, and Australian soccer legend Tim Cahill.
“I’m braced for long woolly hairstyles or fringes in their eyes,” Ciccone said.
“A few players came in before they resumed practise. Cripps does his own clipping when he can’t get to me, then I fix it up.”
Ciccone’s comments follow post-iso haircut reveals from Demons captain Max Gawn and rising Tigers star Sydney Stack
Buckley, who fronts the popular podcast Dyl & Friends, said his hairstyle choices were in line with most of his AFL peers.
“Everyone goes through the David Beckham stage, where you want all of his haircuts,” Buckley said. “But I’ve always worn my hair with a bit of a mullet up the back.”

He added: “All the players want good haircuts because they’re in the public eye. And a good barber, someone you can trust, is like a good therapist.
“You sit down and tell them all your secrets. I reckon Frank knows more about the players than most of the coaches at Carlton.”
Buckley said his podcast is about humanising players.
“I’m not trying to break stories or find secrets,” he said. “I want to showcase the person.”
Meanwhile, Hair By Ciccone has announced a collaboration with Ned Whiskey, and is offering customers a complimentary drop of spirits from a wine and whiskey drinks menu.
