Gary Ablett’s wife Jordan hits out at All-Australian selectors

In a scathing Instagram post, Gary Ablett’s disgruntled wife Jordan has hit out at a shock decision by All-Australian selectors to leave her Brownlow-winning husband Gary out of the team, saying his “greatness has reached new heights.”

Gary Ablett’s wife Jordan has publicly declared “you made my all Australian” after the on-fire veteran was snubbed from the AFL’s superstar team last night.

There had been great hype that Ablett could set a modern day record of nine All Australian jumpers after he was included in the initial 40 man squad.

But in the final cut he was excluded from a team which included fellow Cats Tom Stewart, Tim Kelly, Patrick Dangerfield and Tom Hawkins.

Taking to social media Jordan shed some light on how hard it has been for Ablett to get back to the form which has won him widespread acclaim this year.

“I am so flipping proud of you! It’s been a gruelling 5 years since you did your shoulder the FIRST time and since then you’ve carried a plethora of injuries and faced significant challenges along the way,” she wrote on Instagram.

“Despite all of that, your greatness has reached new heights.”

Jordan also praised her husbands ability to defy the naysayers who were casting doubt over his place in the star studded Geelong team.

“You continue to perform at an elite level at the age of 35, even though many put you into the box of ‘time to retire’. You’ve been a prime example that age is not a barrier and that if you work hard and stay committed you can continue to achieve at the highest level.”

It has been a busy year for the Abletts who in January welcomed new son Levi.

But Jordan was focused on last night’s snub by the AFL All Australian committee.

“You missed out on making a record 9th All Australian but you DID make the squad, and knowing what you and your body have been through THAT is honestly something to be bloody celebrated.”
