Sky News commentator Piers Morgan met with Prime Minister Scott Morrison in Canberra last week.
The British journalist discussed everything from sport to politics during a private meeting inside Mr. Morrison’s office and he shared a photo on Twitter on Monday morning.
“Great to meet Australia’s Prime Minister @ScottMorrisonMP at his office. Had a fascinating 45-min chat about Ukraine, China, cancel culture (not a fan), @BorisJohnson (big fan), cricket (the Ashes) & my new global TV show. Thanks for your time, PM,” he wrote.
Morgan clarified that the meeting took place “before Russia invaded” Ukraine.
He also met with Opposition leader Anthony Albanese the day prior.
“In light of all the amusing fury over my meeting/photo with Aussie PM @ScottMorrisonMP .. here’s me with Labor leader & wannabe PM @AlboMP the night before. Both meetings occurred before Ukraine invasion & Queensland floods… so cool your indignant jets, Oz media.”

It comes as the former Good Morning Britain co-host prepares to launch a new global TV show on Sky News which will also air in the UK and the US.
“I’ll be calling out extremists from all sides, not just in Australia but anywhere - and especially those who think cancel culture’s a great idea and want to compel us all to lead their own dreary joyless lifestyles,” he recently said.
Last week, Morgan, 56, attended a power-packed dinner at the Sydney Opera House to celebrate Sky News’ 25th anniversary.
Guests included Mr. Morrison, his wife Jenny and News Corp co-chairman Lachlan Murdoch and his wife Sarah.
Morgan weighed in on the upcoming federal election and said he believes that “Australians will want to elect the leader who they believe will move most swiftly to restore all freedom rights lost during the crisis, and who will be strong on national security.”
