THEY became two of the biggest names in Australian fashion after launching their blog They All Hate Us more than a decade ago, but it seems the once seemingly unbreakable friendship between Tash Sefton and Elle Ferguson has fractured.

The pair, who have made millions out of their mutually beneficial relationship, were once regular fixtures on the Sydney social scene, however they haven’t been seen together since last year or posted together since their last sponsored post for nail polish brand OPI in April.

Adding fuel to the fire of industry speculation, Ferguson had stopped following her former bestie on social media until Sunday Confidential called her agent, at which point Ferguson’s following figures suddenly went from 876 to 877 and Sefton was back on the list.

According to insiders, their friendship has been strained for a number of months, however they chose to put on a unified front for the sake of their hugely successful global business.

“The girls have grown apart,” an insider said. “They are at completely different stages of their lives and want to do their own things now.

“They once worked together but now they have become competitive towards one another. And they spent so much time with each other during their heyday, people were literally waiting for the friendship to sour.”

When Sunday Confidential phoned mother-of-two Sefton, who is managed by leading agency IMG, she simply said was focusing on her own work which includes a new swimwear line — Bondi Born x Sefton Segedin.

Ferguson’s agent also attempted to hose down the story. “As far as I know they are just focusing on their own stuff … there’s really no story here,” she said.

However the former duo’s followers aren’t buying it.

“Can you let us know what’s going on … all very quiet from you girls,” wrote Lindameldrum on the pair’s Instagram page.

“I miss you two together,” wrote Littleladylola.

While shanacheredawson simply asked, “Have @elleferguson & @tashsefton parted ways???.”

During their time as besties, Ferguson and Sefton’s blog was considered the most successful in Australia, boasting 8 million visits and achieving an Instagram following of more than 1 million.

The pair, who were initially managed by Ministry of Talent’s Roxy Jacenko between 2011
and 2015, secured their own fashion-focused reality TV show, Style Squad, on Foxtel, created an online store which attracts more than one million unique visitors annually and collaborated with brands including OPI and The Outnet.
