NATIONAL Tiles boss Frank Walker says he is constantly amazed at his cult status after two DJs played his famous radio ad during a full-tilt techno set to 10,000 German ravers.
Australian duo Mashd N Kutcher played the iconic “Hallooo … Frank Walker from National Tiles,” followed by details of bargains on offer, at the height of a dance party.
As Walker’s voice penetrated the dancefloor, punters stood still, confused by the sales pitch suddenly dropped on them.

Behind the scenes, Walker is said to be “constantly amazed at his little cult following,” but insists he’s “just trying to sell some tiles.”
Walker has voiced the popular radio ads for 21 years.
Initial versions used other voiceover talent, but Walker was convinced to take the helm.
“The early ads were being cute and creative,” Walker told Confidential.
“But I just call it as it is. There’s never any humour in ours ads. It’s just facts. And I repeat the facts over and over again.”
Walker added: “Every day in Australia, for every 10,000 people that wake up, there’s probably 9000 people who say: ‘I need to buy a coffee.’
“Do you know how many people wake up and say: ‘I want to buy ceramic tiles?’ Three in 10,000. I’ve got a tiny little market.”
“I apologise to the 9,997 people that don’t want to buy tiles, but the three that do, they don’t want to hear froth, they don’t want to hear bubble.”
