Being a psychic means Jackie Gillies is used to ridicule, but if she was a phony she wouldn’t have scored her biggest gig yet.
The 38-year-old was cast on Real Housewives of Melbourne in 2013 after revealing that the executive producer’s grandfather had hidden behind a fake name her whole life.
“We were having a conversation when I said ‘Your grandfather is here’,” Gillies told Confidential.

“She said ‘Who?’ and I said ‘Your grandfather, his name is Yosef’.
“She said his name was David but I argued back and said ‘No, it’s Yosef’.
“Unbeknown to me she rings her mother and asks what her grandfather’s name is.
“Her mum at first says David, but because he was a Holocaust survivor he changed it, and eventually she admitted his name was Yosef.
“She came out crying and said ‘how did you know that?’ “I told her: I’m a psychic medium.”
In addition to being a psychic, people also know Gillies from I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here as well as her famous husband, Ben Gillies of Silverchair fame.
The pair still bounce between Sydney, Melbourne and their hometown of Newcastle, where they first met.
Silverchair had funded a music course that (Jackie) Gillies took part in and met the drummer briefly, describing him as “wankery”.
Eleven years later, after a horrendous long-term relationship where she was cheated on and abused, she was happily single for four years.
That was, until a guiding voice led her to her now husband of almost a decade.
“I got a call from this woman who I hadn’t spoken to in forever inviting me to a party in Bondi and in my head I thought I’m not going to that,” she said.
“I’ve settled in with a bottle of red and all of a sudden I hear this voice say ‘Go to Bondi’.
“I listened, because I always do.
“I’m there and Ben walks in — I looked at him, he looked at me and he says ‘I remember you’.
“He said he wasn’t going to come because this girl just called him out of the blue but there was something inside him telling him to go.”
Gillies autobiography, “Shine It Up”, is available from Tuesday.
