Hawthorn premiership star Josh Gibson has spoken for the first time since the breakdown of his relationship.
Gibson stepped out to a tennis dinner last night, getting his hands on a different kind of trophy, the Australian Open men’s singles trophy, at the Piper-Heidsieck dinner at Mr Miyagi in Prahran.
He split from his partner of almost two years, Olga Kononchuk, just before Christmas.
“I’m really focusing on putting my head down over the next few months,” Gibson said.
“I’m excited for the tennis, Melbourne do events the best. I’m into fitness and working hard at my gym BeFit and my work with Bondi Protein. I’m excited for the year ahead.”
Since the split Gibson has deleted all pictures of the mother-of-two from his Instagram.
Kononchuk is still recovering from spinal injuries after a boating accident in November 2018.
Gibson was at the Portsea Polo last Saturday and will attend the Open, which starts on Monday.
