Channel 9 sports presenter Erin Molan has spent 10 days in hospital after severely breaking her “arm bone off entirely” when she fell down a flight of stairs fetching a bottle for her baby daughter Eliza.
Molan told her 2GB show on Saturday night her injuries — which included a broken hand — were “one of the more painful breaks you can do”.
“I’ve broken the arm bone off entirely,” she said, adding that she was now recovering at home.
Her injury, which has forced her off the air until she recovers, was first revealed by fellow Nine sports presenter Cam Williams on Sunday night.
He told the evening broadcast “Erin has spent the past 10 days in hospital with bad breaks to her arm and hand after falling down the stairs as she was getting a bottle.”
This latest accident followed a hand fracture earlier this year that also sidelined her from work.
It has also forced her absence from Saturday’s Australian Commercial Radio Awards, where her radio show 2GB Afternoons with Erin Molan and Natalie Peters won Best On Air Team.
“This one means a bloody lot! Gutted I was out of action,” she posted on Instagram.
She has also been absent from a number of red carpet events in the wake of a reported rift with former Footy Show co-host and NRL legend Andrew Johns.
But sources at Channel 9 fear the sports presenter is being sidelined by her long-term employer.
Following reports of the bitter feud with Johns, the hardworking Molan was virtually absent from Nine’s NRL grand final coverage on October 6.
She wasn’t part of the match coverage despite hosting Friday night football all year and instead did pre-show duties and post-show interviews with WAGs.

Molan was also absent from her Friday night sports report on the bulletin presented by Deb Knight, nursing her injured shoulder at home after surgery.
“The boys club dominated the coverage on the NRL grand final night,” said one insider.
“There is no doubt Nine’s main female sports broadcaster is being sidelined.
“People in the building are concerned for her.
“She is renowned for her unwavering commitment to work and never says no to anything.
“She went back to work when her daughter Eliza was six weeks old.
“However there’s no doubt she is being used less by Nine.”
Sunday Confidential believes Molan has two years left on her contract.
Nine’s spokeswoman Vic Buchan told Sunday Confidential the story was “clearly another beat up about Erin”.
“Erin hosted the first three hours of the (grand final) coverage on the day from the ground and did all the post-show interviews with the families of the winning teams.”
