Elsa Pataky, Spanish model and actor and wife of Aussie star Chris Hemsworth, will be a special guest at Saturday’s Victoria Derby Day.
Pataky will return to the Birdcage on the opening day of the Melbourne Cup Carnival as a guest of Lexus Australia with capacity crowds set to flock to Flemington for the first time in three years.
It’s not yet confirmed if Thor actor Hemsworth will join his wife in the Landmark by Lexus pavilion but they have each previously made guest appearances in the famed enclosure.
“I’ve loved horses since I was little and own a few ex-racehorses for both pleasure riding and show jumping,’’ Pataky said.
“Seeing the world’s best thoroughbreds in action on the track is always so exciting, and to
experience it in Landmark by Lexus will be really special.
“I was impressed by Lexus and its commitment to sustainability and nature this year, as it’s important to show how we can still create luxurious spaces using recycled and repurposed items. The races are always such a fun day out, and I can’t wait to share it with my friends.”
The theme for Lexus, the Melbourne Cup day sponsor, is ‘Live it Electric’, with CEO John Pappas saying Pataky complements the brand’s values of style, sophistication and elegance.
Other guests through the Carnival will include retired Cats captain Joel Selwood with Derby Day sponsor Penfolds; model Nicole Trunfio, a Victoria Racing Club ambassador attending Derby Day and Oaks Day; sisters Ash and Jess Hart, also guests of the VRC who will judge Myer Fashions on the Field on Derby Day; singer Delta Goodrem as a VRC ambassador attending on Lexus Melbourne Cup Day; and New York based supermodel Duckie Thot who is a guest of the G.H. Mumm Parisian garden themed marquee.
