As their husbands Chris Hemsworth and Matt Damon film the latest instalment of Thor in Sydney, Elsa Pataky and Luciana Barroso recently enjoyed a girls’ day out in Byron Bay.
The longtime friends banded together to support businesses from regional NSW earlier this month and business owner Laura Hall, who runs a hat label PHYLLi, told Confidential that she was thrilled to host a COVID-safe hat party at a private residence with the girls.
“My business is only 18 months old so it was so lovely to be supported not only by Elsa and her family but by her friends as well,” Hall said.
“The opportunity came when Elsa and the girls sought out local businesses in the Hunter Valley region that they could support, so that’s how they were introduced to my brand. Elsa visited my studio in Scone last year while she was in the area for the Wildark conservation program in the Barrington Tops and then we had the hat party a few weeks ago.
“I’m so appreciative of their support and how they all engaged in the concept and idea of the PHYLLi hat party.”
Pataky and Barroso were joined by a small group of friends including Luke Hemsworth’s wife Samantha.
Since moving her family from Hollywood to Australia in 2014, Pataky has become a big fan of Australian designers like Phylli and Spell, which is known for its trademark bohemian designs.
Barroso is also a fan of local designers and like Pataky, she has embraced Byron Bay’s bohemian culture.
The Damon family have been staying near the Hemsworths since arriving in Australia last month with their youngest daughters Isabella, Stella, and Gia .
The couple completed 14 days of private quarantine at a $7000-a-night luxury estate just outside of Byron Bay.
Hemsworth and Damon have been travelling together between Sydney and Byron Bay to film scenes for the highly-anticipated film, which is expected to inject $178 million into the economy as part of the government’s covid recovery plan.
The Damon family, who live in California, are good friends of the Hemsworths and visit them in Byron Bay each year for family holidays.
Pataky and Barroso once got matching tattoos at a local tattoo parlour as a nod to their longstanding friendship.
Damon joins the likes of Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and Tessa Thompson who are also in town to film Marvel blockbuster Thor: Love and Thunder.
Filming is taking place at Moore Park’s Fox Studios.
