FORMER Magpies star Dane Swan has admitted he’s too scared to challenge his mum’s only rule when it comes to his tattoos.
“I’ve started my back,” the heavily inked Swan said at Tigers champion Dustin Martin’s ‘in conversation’ show at The Palms At Crown. “Once that’s done, I’m done. I’ve got no more room.”
DUSTY REVEALS HIS DISCREET DANE SWAN TATTOO
Asked by compere Dave Hughes if he’d emulate Martin’s neck tattoos, Swan answered: “I wanted to get the side of my head done, but my mum (Deidre) said she would shoot me.
“I’m not old enough to argue with mum at the moment. I’m not old enough to tell mum to piss off,” he said, laughing.
“She said, ‘Dane, I know I can’t stop you, but please not your neck and head.’ I’ll get my back done, then I’ll have a discussion with mum. But I think that will be it.”
Martin’s tell-all show, which sold out the 872-seat room, was a runaway hit. He discussed his life and career, including dropping out of school, a failed stint in retail, Brownlow Medal pressure, and the glory of winning the flag.
But his bromance with Swan drew the biggest laughs.
Swan said they first met at a club the night before Martin’s Mad Monday celebrations.
He even let Martin wear one of his medal (“it might have been the Copeland Trophy medal”) to Richmond’s end-of-year festivities.

Swan added: “That hasn’t come back, either.”
He jokingly linked Martin’s stellar on-field performance to their end-of-season holidays to Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
“I might go to the AFL and offer training camps with me at the end of the year,” he said.
Martin has announced an encore show at The Palms At Crown on March 3. Tickets at www.ticketmaster.com.au
