Dane Swan is set to play footy in Darwin before heading to live in the US for a few months.
The former Collingwood champion will join partner Taylor Wilson and their son Tate overseas after she went to visit family for the first time in two years.
He is in Melbourne for the reopening of his bar, The Albion, next weekend. Earlier this year Swan pulled on the boots for St Kilda City.
“The Albion opens next weekend so have to be here for that (and then) planning on playing in Darwin,’’ Swan said on his Hump Day with Swanny and Friends podcast.
“Early to mid December I’ll be off.
“(Taylor’s) loving being over there with family and her nephews and I’ll be over there soon enough. We’ll spend a couple of months over there and I won’t have a return flight. (Tate’s) got two passports so he can stay for as long as he wants.”
Swan said the Darwin stint depended on the quarantine situation but he’s hopeful it would happen. The family will split its time between New York and Florida and he could return in February.
“Haven’t really figured it out yet, we’ll just wing it,’’ he said. “We might go get some sun.”
Swan said he was missing his busy little family.
“Weekends are good, weekdays are hard,’’ he said.
“It’s different considering how much chaos you have in your house for the first eight months and then it’s gone.
“I’ve been away from Taylor for a month or six weeks at a time so it’s not really a problem but being away from Tate is weird and hard.”
