Chris Pang can now pick and choose acting jobs following film’s success

Just over a year ago, Australian actor Chris Pang was so desperate to land a role in a film he was willing to pay the director. But following the success of Crazy Rich Asians, the game has changed for him and his co stars.

Just over a year ago, Australian actor Chris Pang was so desperate to land a role in a film he was willing to pay the director.

But today, following the monumental success of Crazy Rich Asians, the first Hollywood film in 25 years to have an all-Asian cast, the game has changed for Pang and his co-stars.

“I was meeting with some of my cast mates from Crazy Rich Asians recently and we were saying we are at the point where people want to use us for different projects and we have the luxury of picking and choosing our gigs,” Pang, the new face of Sheridan told Sunday Confidential.

“Not too long ago, I would have paid to be in the films I am now turning down. Now it is like, no no, I will wait for something better.”

It was a sudden change of pace for Pang who got his first break in Australian film Tomorrow When The War Began (2010).

“The film was so important for me culturally that I am just so happy it was able to connect people together,” said Pang, who was born in Melbourne of Taiwanese-Chinese origins.

Peng’s latest gig is with Sheridan as the face of its Tonight Makes Tomorrow campaign, which invites Aussies to rethink the importance of getting quality rest and relaxation in order to achieve their goals.

“Sheridan is a brand that I have grown up with,” he said.
“It isn’t until now that I live by myself that I appreciate things like good sheets.

“When they pitched me the idea of the campaign — Tonight Makes Tomorrow — it all fits in with me and my life.”
