Chris Hemsworth has hit back at false media reports after the actor was accused of having “a fleet of water trucks” outside his $20 million mansion in Byron Bay amid the drought crisis.

Hollywood actor Chris Hemsworth has furiously denied claims that he had trucks of water delivered to his Byron Bay home for his brand new garden, amid the drought crisis.

Thor fans were left outraged last week when The Sydney Morning Herald claimed Hemsworth and his wife Elsa Pataky had a “fleet of water trucks” deliver H20 to their $20 million mansion to maintain their “$1 million garden”, but the movie star has dispelled reports.

“This is a complete lie. Normally I wouldn’t respond to false articles like this but it bothers me a lot,” Hemsworth wrote on social media.

“The water truck was purely for drinking water because like everyone in the region who is not connected to town water we have run out of potable water due to the drought.

“NONE of my garden is fed by drinking water. Thanks for your concern #dailymail and thanks for adding more distress to an already brutal situation the whole country is dealing with. Merry Xmas.”

Hemsworth slammed the story as a “complete lie” in an Instagram post.

Hemsworth’s frustration was apparent after the Fairfax newspaper quoted a Macadamia nut farmer who implied the Avengers star was blissfully unaware of the devastation caused by bushfires around the country.

“I wish I had millions of dollars to buy that amount of water, all the demand has put the prices through the roof. I’ve seen his gardens – it’s a green, lush oasis in there,” the nut farmer said.

Critics flocked to social media to criticise Hemsworth and Pataky based on the false reports.

The couple are often hailed for their philanthropic endeavours, which includes raising money for local firefighters.

Both Hemsworth and Pataky will auction off a one-hour training session next month as part of a fundraiser for the NSW RFS Northern Rivers and Far North Coast Brigades.

There are more than 100 fires still burning across New South Wales, which have left eight people dead and more than 800 properties destroyed.
