Chef George Calombaris has popped up on Instagram to offer a series of ‘How To’ videos with recipes from the pantry
George Calombaris has launched a surprise comeback to the kitchen. The former MasterChef judge has spoken publicly for the first time since the collapse of his restaurant empire, while attempting to launch a rebrand amid the coronavirus crisis.

George Calombaris has returned to the small screen to share tips and recipes for people during these tough times.
The former MasterChef judge and restaurateur will do a ‘How To’ series via his Instagram, featuring recipes from everyday ingredients in his pantry.
“It’s been a while. In saying that, I thank everyone out there, you know who you are, for your love and support, not only for me, but for my entire family,’’ Calombaris said in a video on Instagram. “We are grateful, and I am grateful.
“It’s a tough day, it’s a tough time for the entire world. It’s important that we all stick together and be united. We can get through this.”
Calombaris, who lasted posted on February 10, called on the community to be resilient to get through this coronavirus crisis.
“It’s times like this we need to be frugal, it’s times like this we need to be thoughtful,’’ he said.
“If I can get into your houses over the next couple of months to help you guys get through this, with delicious food, we’re all gonna win.
“Remember, through tough times it’s important for us to all pull together, to be strong, to be united, to think about what we say, not to react, not to jump, just to calm down.
“Look after the people left, right and in front of you. Love your family, come together, we can get through this. We are strong when we love as a community at large.”
Calombaris hasn’t spoken publicly since the collapse of his restaurant business, MAdE Establishment Group.
He had put his Toorak mansion on the market, but has leased it instead.
