Celebrity chef Pete Evans has complained about his “loss of free will” due to social distancing rules during the pandemic.

The former My Kitchen Rules judge broke down in tears while discussing his controversial views on coronavirus in an interview on 60 Minutes last night.

“Am I fearful of COVID-19? I’m not, because I believe in who I am and my ability to stay as healthy as I can through anything,” he said.

“I’ve never had a flu vaccine because I’m not concerned about catching a flu, it’s as simple as that.”

Evans, who was fined $25,000 by the Therapeutic Goods Administration in April for promoting a “light machine” that he claimed could treat COVID-19, said he would only consider a vaccine if it was proved to be 100 per cent safe.

The media personality, known as “Paleo Pete”, posted the entire interview on social media just as Channel Nine’s 60 Minutes went to air.

He recorded the interview using his own camera crew in addition to Channel Nine’s and previously warned that he would leak the footage online if the network aired a “sensationalist piece”.

Confidential has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Last month, Evans, 47, finished up his $800,000 MKR contract with Channel 7 after openly questioning the safety of vaccines.

“How many times in history have the ‘authorities’ got it wrong (robbing land from indigenous peoples and taking their lives, cigarettes, asbestos, low fat and so on,” he wrote online.

The father-of-two, also known as “Paleo Pete”, is no stranger to criticism after once claiming sunscreen is dangerous and contains poisonous chemicals.

His 2017 Netflix documentary The Magic Pill also claims people suffering from illnesses like diabetes, cancer and autism can reduce symptoms and reliance on prescription drugs by adopting a specific diet for just five weeks.
