He might be known for creating high priced meals and receiving Michelin stars, but celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay instead put his energy into packing food hampers for bushfire victims.
Ramsay is the latest celebrity to pay a surprise visit to Foodbank Victoria staff and volunteers after US singer Lizzo dropped in last week.
He said he was dropping in to thank them for their tireless efforts during Victoria’s bushfire emergency food and water relief response.
Ramsay has already expressed his dismay at the bushfire crisis.
Last week it was revealed that a proposed launch for his book ‘Gordon Ramsay Quick and Delicious Summer Book Party’ — hosted by publishers Hachette Australia — was quickly converted into a fundraiser due to the unfolding bushfire crisis.
Ramsay auctioned an exclusive private lunch for two guests in Melbourne to raise funds for the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery Fund.
Foodbank is the state’s oldest and largest food relief organisation and is the Victorian Government’s official emergency food and water relief organisation.
“So far, our volunteers and staff have helped distribute more than 3,200 mixed grocery hampers of essential items to feed families displaced by the bushfires in East Gippsland,” spokesperson Alexa Viani said.

Foodbank Victoria has also sent in more than 138 pallets of water, plus muesli bars and ‘grab and go’ items for first responders.
The organisation said that at the moment, financial donations are the best way to support efforts to get food to the needy.
“We can leverage every dollar by approximately $7,” Ms Viani said.
