A who’s who of power, business, politics and entertainment converged on the Pratt family estate, Raheen in Kew, on Saturday for a special family celebration.
The occasion was the bar mitzvah of Leon Pratt, 13 year-old grandson of Jeanne Pratt and the late Richard Pratt, and the son of Visy Executive Chairman and billionaire Anthony Pratt and his wife Claudine Revere.
Australia’s top comedy duo Hamish Blake and Andy Lee hosted formalities during the night at the heritage listed mansion which featured performances by singers Guy Sebastian and Cody Simpson with comedic legend Barry Humphries also a guest.
One invitee told the Herald Sun the event was spectacular with a nod to traditional Jewish values and filled with much joy.
Other big name guests included Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews and federal Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Herald and Weekly Times chair Penny Fowler, retail billionaire Solomon Lew, former Woolworths boss Roger Corbett, Lion chairman Sir Rod Eddington and prominent Melbourne identities John Gandel and Paula Fox, without husband Lindsay who is recovering from a fall.
Professor Sharon Lewin of the Doherty Institute was also there, along with extended members of the Pratt family including Anthony Pratt’s sisters Heloise Pratt and Fiona Geminder.
According to a Fairfax Media report all guests underwent rapid tests before entering the venue.
After his bar mitzvah service at St Kilda Synagogue earlier in the day supported by his parents and sister Lilly, Leon turned the event into a fundraiser, setting up an online donation page for Make-A-Wish Australia to help and support children with critical illness.
