‘Beer fumes and burgers’: Star Cat can’t look dietitian in the eye

Jeremy Cameron looks in fine form following his six-goal haul against the Blues, but the star Cat says he still can’t look the club dietitian in the eye following his off-season blowout.

Why Jeremy Cameron will win the 2023 AFL Coleman Medal

Time On is your Monday wrap-up of all the footy gossip from the weekend.

Jeremy Cameron is in a rich vein of form with many asking if he’s the best player in the competition after Thursday night’s six goal heroics.

But the Cats superstar didn’t exactly come back from a break in top shape.

He revealed he couldn’t look the club dietitian in the eyes after all the food he’d consumed following the premiership win.

“I tell you what, a month after the grand final, I felt like the furtherest thing from an athlete,’’ Cameron told Tommy Sheridan’s Ausmerican Aces podcast.

“The first steps on the road to 2023 were horrible. The knee blew up and limping down the road … skin folds are over 120.

“All you can think about is like beer fumes and just food, you know, just food. Just (ate) that many Maccas burgers and hash browns.

“Egg and bacons and you know what I mean, it’s a proper month of (just going for it).

“And then it comes a time like overnight the fingers just click and you’re like, we have to do it again here. Just a horrible feeling when that happens. Still haven’t looked the dietitian in the eyes.”

Molloy hits back at South Australian MP

Mick Molloy can’t wait to give South Australia a serve after a state politician criticised him for a “reckless joke” about smuggling fruit over the border when he’s in Adelaide over Gather Round in Round 5.

Molloy, who made the quip about bringing fruit over in his boot on his Channel 7 show The Front Bar, hit back at Upper House MP Frank Pangallo.

“I want a pardon from the Premier,’’ Molloy told Time On.

“They should be lucky to have me. If they play their cards right they might actually enjoy being entertained.”

Molloy said it was dumb and stupid criticism given he is a comedian and the show is lighthearted.

SA has strict laws banning most fresh fruit and vegetables from being brought in to the state to protect its $2bn horticulture industry from disease.

Saints’ celebrity sin

Eric Bana is one of our finest homegrown comedians, acting exports and a very famous Saints man.

But this young generation is obviously not quite as familiar with his feats that include Logie award-winning comedy character ‘Poida’ and even recent cinema work in hit adaptation The Dry.

While chatting to two Saints rookies after the game, the impressive Mattaes Phillipou and

Anthony Caminiti, Channel 7 host Hamish McLachlan asked whether they’d met Bana who was in the rooms and attends most matches.

They said ‘no’ and ‘who’s that?’ – to the bewilderment of himself and Cameron Ling.

When Dale Thomas joined them after the break he too was miffed that they didn’t know the Aussie great.

Lyon and McInnes break bread

Saints coach Ross Lyon and 3AW commentator Shane McInnes have broken bread after a decade long infamous exchange.

The pair’s prickly history dates back to Lyon’s time as Fremantle coach in 2013 when McInnes questioned him in a post-match press conference.

Lyon even had a segment on Footy Classified called ‘You’re quite brilliant’ in reference to his sarcastic comments to McInnes.

They caught up for a chat on the boundary before Saturday night’s game.

“Nice to see you again. They tell me you’re all warm and fuzzy,’’ McInnes said.

Lyon quipped: “They tell me you’re asking smarter questions.”

McInnes actually brought along a bread roll and ended with: “We’re all good are we?”

Lyon had a laugh: “‘Don’t get angry, get even’ is my motto.”

Emotional expletives

The first f-bomb of the season was dropped after North Melbourne’s thrilling one-point win over Fremantle.

Midfield star Luke Davies-Uniacke was bailed up by Fox Footy’s Matthew Pavlich after the game and he dropped the expletive while trying to articulate the feeling.

Pavlich kept his cool saying there’s obviously a lot of emotions in the game.
