Barry Hall has challenged Sonny Bill Williams to commit now to a boxing match in 2022.
Hall, who made his pro debut in a drawn fight against former league star Paul Gallen in 2019, said he didn’t buy Williams’ excuses about needing some warm-up fights.
The AFL great said it was time to put up and get in the ring with him.
“It’s now time for action! Warm-ups and excuses about preparation are getting old,’’ Hall posted Sunday night on Instagram.
“I’m looking for two more fights with one of them being you and I think we all know who the other is if things go how I think they will!!
“Time to commit now! Feb 2022! LET’S GO!!”
The former Sydney premiership captain who became known as Big Bad bustling Barry, has just been a contestant on brutal military-style series SAS Australia.
Hall, 44, said he’s confused because former rugby and league star Williams is nine years younger than him and has had eight wins from eight fights.
“Was regarded as the best athlete in the world by many and only retired less than 12 months ago as a professional athlete!’’ Hall wrote.
“From my standpoint … I’ve had 1 fight! (We really know the true result of that!)
“Have not been a professional athlete for 10 years!
“But I don’t need or want a warm up I’m happy to fight now. This fight has been in the making for over 12 months now and due to “Covid” there has been delays! (But I’ve seen many other fight cards go ahead?) hmmmmm …”
Hall received supportive comments from his SAS castmates Anna Heinrich and Simone Holtznagel. His fiance, Lauren Brant, is due to give birth to their third child any day now. The couple has two sons.
