Brisbane champion Lachie Neale and his wife, Jules, have welcomed their second child, a baby boy.
Jules posted a sweet picture of their daughter, Piper, holding the newborn named Freddie.
“Freddie Oliver Neale you complete our little family,’’ Jules posted.
Lachie also posted a picture of himself holding the newborn.
“Welcome to the world Freddie,’’ he wrote.
The Lions premiership co-captain added after the birth at Mater Mothers’ Private Hospital:
“Look, it has been a big year. Having our healthy baby boy is better than a premiership.
“We have looked at his calves and they are skinny – hopefully he plays golf one day.”
Jules said her son was “eager to arrive” after having a quick labour.
“Freddie was due on 29 December but was in a hurry to join us for Christmas this year it seems,’’ she said.
Lachie said this Christmas would involve a quiet celebration with family in Brisbane.
“We will be staying put and soaking up some family time,” he said.
“It’s really exciting to have a little girl and a boy.”
Neale’s happy news comes after he held aloft the premiership cup with teammates in September.
In an incredible year, the dual Brownlow medallist also earned his fourth All-Australian selection and won his fourth Merrett-Murray Medal this season.
The couple announced an adorable gender reveal with Piper holding an ultrasound back in June.
“And then there were four,” the couple shared on social media.
“We cannot wait to meet you little one!
“Feeling so incredibly blessed to be able to grow this little family. It didn’t come easily but then nothing worth having ever does anyone out there on their own TTC journey, sending you all the love and luck in the world.”
The Neales said finding out they are expecting a boy gave them “the biggest shock of our lives”.
When Piper was born three years ago Neale said she had instantly become his world.
