HE’S usually behind a different kind of racket, but promoter Michael Gudinski is bringing 15 days of beautiful noise to the Australian Open Live Stage in 2019.
“I’m a proud Melburnian, and nobody does world-class events like Melbourne,” Gudinski said. “I’m honored to be involved with the Australian Open. It is an incredible event and ... the AO Live Stage has cemented itself as an integral part of the Grand Slam tournament.”
Forntier Touring and Mushroom Events boss Gudinski today announced AO Live Stage shows by Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis on January 14, and British hit makers Bastille and Craig David on January 17 and 25, respectively.
Chart-topping siblings Angus and Julia Stone will be the headline act on women’s finals day on January 26.
More acts will be announced soon.
“I’m really excited to be bringing my band show to the iconic Australian Open and playing the AO Live Stage at Melbourne Park in January,” David said.
“I look forward to seeing my amazing fans again who have been with me from back in the day and the new ones who have just discovered my music. It’s time to party.”
Australian Open tournament director Craig Tiley said the concert space will include more shade for punter comfort.
“The Australian Open is all about entertainment – whether it be the world’s best players competing on court or some of the best musicians from Australia and around the world performing at the Live Stage,” Tiley said.
“It’s just one of the differences that gives the AO such a unique personality and makes the event such a big hit with fans.”
Access to the AO Live Stage is included in Australian Open ground pass or stadium tickets.
