WELL, that escalated quickly. And as the Twitter shots flew thick and fast, Andrew Bogut and Liz Cambage played into feuding overtime by, oh, 27 hours.
It started innocently enough: a tweet by the injured Bogut saying he doesn’t enjoy reading gossip columns.
“The worst part of the newspaper,” he said.
But a tweet from champion Opals player Cambage, saying Bogut is “so foul”, sparked a tirade that ramped up to a fierce day-night-day match.
“DJ Cambage in the house!” Bogut posted, mocking her fledgling career behind the decks, then, hours later, branding her a “blue light disco DJ”.
Cambage retaliated: “Big man, little brain.”

Later, Cambage asked: “What is it about me that’s got you so upset that you publicly try to shame me every other month?”
“Did I call you foul?” Bogut answered. “I simply replied.”
By now, basketball stars, including San Antonio Spurs guard Patty Mills, Utah Jazz forward Joe Ingles and Chris Goulding, were on the social media sidelines, posting popcorn pictures, and enjoying the show.
“Never be that sad washed-up athlete tweeting negative BS in his 30s. Never,” Cambage continued.
However, by day two — today — even Mills conceded “my popcorn doesn’t taste good anymore”, adding: “Bro, I’m changing theatres. The Notebook is playing in Cinema 8.”
Mills said Bogut was “far from washed up”, and in a closing zinger, tweeted: “Could probably dunk on you, but.”
By nightfall, it appeared peace might break out.
“We all know it isn’t the first time we have been vocal with each other on social media and I am sure we will both move on with our lives.,” Cambage told Confidential.
“We are both passionate people. Maybe he can come and be my support act in my gig in LA in June?” She said.
That may not come to pass, as Bogut continued his jibes on Twitter the next day.
“I feel victimized (sic). Why can’t confidential support my tweets? It’s so foul ...” Bogut posted, mocking Cambage for her earlier posts.
