The summer of tennis has so far attracted some big names, with more set to descend on Melbourne Park for the Australian Open to make it a “bumper year”.
At the Brisbane International on Saturday night actor Jude Law was courtside with his son while in Sydney actor Rebel Wilson and musician Redfoo were cheering on the action at the United Cup.
Wilson thanked Bec and Lleyton Hewitt for having her as the Aussies took to the court; she sat with Bec and their children.
Law met up with Aussie swimmer Ariarne Titmus at the Brisbane venue and is said to be a big tennis fan.
More big names are expected in Melbourne once the grand slam kicks off on January 14.
Organisers believe Barbie star Margot Robbie will be in town but it’s unclear yet if she’ll attend.
Law is in Brisbane filming new thriller movie Eden alongside Anyone But You star Sydney Sweeney and former Bond girl Ana de Armas.
Invitations will be extended to them too.
Homegrown superstar Dannii Minogue, playwright Tim Minchin and radio host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson are all due to be among the crowd.
An insider said it’s expected to be a “bumper year” for celebrity names.
Last year tech billionaire Bill Gates attended the finals, along with actor Russell Crowe, Pia Miller and actor Joel Kinnaman with partner and model Kelly Gale.
Business and political names are also going to turn out in droves, along with local personalities and influencers.
The first day of play, on a Sunday for the first time, will be attended by many familiar faces including Collingwood premiership captain Darcy Moore, fashion influencer Nadia Bartel, former star jockey Michelle Payne, food critic Matt Preston, track star Peter Bol, actor Olympia Valance, comedians Dave Hughes and Joel Creasey, TV personality Eddie McGuire and former Miss Universe Australia Maria Thattil.
