AFL players fly to Bali to soak up the sun

Pies premiership star Jordy De Goey is among the huge number of footy players who’ve jetted to the Indonesian island, with many meeting up with a man who’s known as the king of Bali.

The king of Bali, Rick Olarenshaw, has been in hot demand.

Huge numbers of AFL players are soaking up the sunshine and enjoying their break in his Indonesian backyard.

Last week some Adelaide players, Izak Rankine and Josh Rachele, trained with Olarenshaw and his footy side, the Bali Geckos.

The Essendon premiership wingman, who runs an F45 gym in Seminyak and Canggu, has many of the Bulldogs players training this week ahead of Jason Johannisen’s wedding.

Over the past few days Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin has been surfing in Lembongan with Olarenshaw and some other mates.

Olarenshaw was last year living it up in Bali with Goodwin and former Essendon CEO Xavier Campbell.

Collingwood star Jordy De Goey, who is familiar with the surrounds, has returned for a post premiership holiday with friends.

“There’s tons of boys here at the moment,’’ Olarenshaw said.

“They’ve all been training in the mornings. I was out with the Bombers boys on Saturday night. I wake up with a lot of hangovers this time of year.”

Olarenshaw is also close with Wayne Carey who often heads to Bali too.

In February Olarenshaw picked a Playboy theme for his 50th birthday celebrations on the island paradise where he’s lived for years and has set up successful businesses.

His Hugh Hefner get-up for the big party was a talking point in Melbourne circles.
