What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Woah, Alyssa! 2 is an absurd, queer sketch comedy created and performed by two cute + cool boyfriends.

It’s full-throttle as we dash between utter nonsense, clever nonsense and serious social issues swaddled in nonsense.

BRITISH AND IRISH COMEDIANS TO SEE THIS YEAR

TOP COMICS REVEAL THEIR FAVOURITE COMEDIANS

What have you been up to since last time you were here?

We did our first show Woah, Alyssa! 1 last year, so you could say we’re kinda living legends at this year’s festival?

In the last year, we’ve done monthly variety shows at queer institution Hares and Hyenas, and not to brag, but we think we’ve gotten even more perfect at comedy.

We also shot a web series which is coming out soon and we love, but it has made us so poor that we’ve aged maybe 10 years, so when you see us, don’t freak out.

Who should see your show, and why?

Honestly, anyone and everyone.

We know that sounds bold, but our tagline, “queer comedy for normies”, pretty much sums it up; we put on a show that’s very gay and weird but also funny enough that we’re pretty sure your straight grandma can come and have a good time. (If your grandma even is STRAIGHT.)

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

We reckon the best way to go is grab tickles early for the people you know you love, but leave some room in the calendar for the unknowns that mates tell you about or that you stumble upon.

Also if you hate being given flyers please find it in your heart to say “no” politely.

Flyer issuers are people too, y’all.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

We’re super keen to see more Becky Lucas and Anne Edmonds.

Also everyone we love and respect will not shut up about Zoe Coombs Marr, so we would like to see her, too.

Oh, and we promise it’s not nepotism to say our friends Bella Green, Breast of the Fest and Sweet Potatoes are dope.

What do you love about Melbourne?

We’re from here, so most of the year we’re in that daze where you live someplace and you’re always running to and from work and you don’t really appreciate it.

But honestly, comedy festival is such a brill time in Melbourne, there’s such a school holidays vibe in the air and we reckon that makes Melbourne pretty special.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

We love every dumb and bizarre character bit from Saturday Night Live, like when Kristen Wiig is that lady who’s excited about the party or Bill Hader’s that guy who keeps screaming “Roula”.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

It’s really good.
