The Fan Brigade say they’ll be marching out the musical comedy hits, with some barbed commentary thrown in.

What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Laughter. Surprises. Highly charged commentary and brilliant musical comedy (our songs have been called ‘creative and intellectual masterpieces’ but sometimes we just sing about butt stuff).

BRITISH AND IRISH COMEDIANS TO SEE THIS YEAR

TOP COMICS REVEAL THEIR FAVOURITE COMEDIANS

If you’re new to MICF, tell us about you.

The Fan Brigade are two funny women from NZ who are puzzled by being called scary because we’re really very kind and nice and can sing nicely.

We do musical comedy. Women love us. Men who aren’t losers love us (and the others call us ugly sluts on the internet, but we’re cool with that).

Spruik it! Who should see your show, and why?

Anyone who wants a bloody good time (and isn’t afraid of women).

Anyone who is getting a bit tired of the same old stand-up or just wants to see something different.

And anyone who likes music. There might even be a good old-fashioned singalong.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Come and see the Fan Brigade, obviously. No.2 tip is go see women’s shows. Women are killing it in comedy and too many people are missing out on enjoying their fiendishly good shows.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

We are keen to see Becky Lucas if we can — mostly because we’re always on at the same time as her when she comes to NZ, so we still haven’t seen one of her full shows!

What are you expecting Melbourne to be like?

We just know there’s lots of trams and also there’s good coffee as a direct result of so many New Zealanders living there.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

Just each other, to be honest.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

If you don’t come to our show you will die one day.

We don’t make the rules.

THE FAN BRIGADE, FEMINAZI BITCHES, MARCH 26-APRIL 7, CAMPARI HOUSE, 23-25 HARDWARE LN. BOOK TICKETS.
