Comedian Simon Taylor promises a mixed bag of fun right here, right now, with laughter, magic, music and dancing like a fool just part of the act.

What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Slick stand-up comedy, magic, music and me dancing like an idiot.

What have you been up to since last time you were here?

Since last year I’ve written a kid’s book, a novel, done a TV pilot, performed in eight different countries and bought a new shirt.

This year I’m hoping to get new jeans.

Who should see your show, and why?

I’ll put it this way, the number one comment I get from people who like my comedy is: ‘it’s clever that doesn’t rely on swearing’.

So if you’re one of those dickheads, you’ll love it.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Try to imagine how hard it is to make people laugh for a solid hour.

If you love the show you’ll be impressed, if you hate it at least you can sympathise with the performer.

What do you love about Melbourne?

I grew up in Melbourne, so to me it’s getting to visit the home town again and eating all the food I miss. Oh, and see friends and family.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

It’s usually people who aren’t trying to be funny.

Like that guy at the gym who always makes super loud grunts when lifting weights.

He makes me laugh. Shout out to that guy.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

It’s one you can bring the family to and not worry about offence.
