What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Despite the show’s name, you’ll laugh.

It’s got some upbeat songs like It’s Your Fault that I’m Gay (it’s not offensive if it’s autobiographical, right?) and some downbeat songs like Love at First Sight.

TOP COMICS REVEAL THEIR FAVOURITE COMEDIANS

I’ll tell some stories, we’ll laugh, and when it’s over we’ll tell each other we’d like to hang out again.

What should we know about you.

I’m a filmmaker who wrote and directed the feature EMO the musical, which you’ll find on Netflix.

Sometimes it haunts me that teenagers might be making love to my movie.

This is my first MICF.

Who should see your show, and why?

Folks who like a bit of storytelling mixed with their comedy will like this show.

Fans of musical comedy.

The show is a bit of a pressure release, laughing at some things that make us feel pretty glum otherwise.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

When I do the comedy festival, I find a fun person to spend the night with, book in a bunch of acts I’ve never heard of, and either celebrate or lament our decisions afterwards.

Everything is good with the right mate (and beverage).

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

I’m a musical comedy geek, so I’ll be stealing chord progressions from the likes of Pick Up, Blake Everett, and Clare Healy.

What do you love about Melbourne?

You can literally perform a show where strange things come out of your bodily orifices and Melburnians just say, thank you, next.

They’ve seen it all.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

Tim Minchin, Hannah Gadsby, Cory Bernardi.
