The science of comedy is put under the microscope with comedian Luke Morris as he explores love, bower birds and why we sweat.

What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Crudely drawn Microsoft Paint pictures and science content.

Plus things about bower birds, Tom Cruise, the dating show If You Are The One, and easy laughs about mirror neurons, love, sweating and Gray’s Anatomy (the book).

It’s a pretty light show and easy to enjoy, especially considering the over-thinking and research I’ve put into writing it.

COMEDY SHOWS TO SEE WITH YOUR MATES

What have you been up to since last time you were here?

Last time I was here was so much fun, with sold out shows and audience hugs, that I had to come back.

Since then I’ve studied more, researched more, and been on stages across Victoria and the Adelaide Fringe.

My drawings haven’t improved, but there’s more laughs and a more personal story this time.

Who should see your show, and why?

Kind-hearted people who are curious about the world should come to this show.

It’s a true story, with some really interesting facts about human nature, and a good laugh.

If you enjoy Mythbusters, or QI, or science podcasts then this suits you.

Also if you like a love story that might end in tragedy then you can come laugh at that, too.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Arrive early.

Most shows have a tight turn around, so please be early so they start on time.

Also, enjoy the venues.

There are unique spots you might never see a show in again, and that can be fun.

Also, buy the act a drink, or at least buy me a drink, please.

It’ll be fun to chat afterwards.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

Michael Williams is my number one. His show ClipArt Cowboy is going to be a cracker.

Also, recommended are Nick Capper, Danielle Walker, Amy Hetherington and Aidan ‘Taco’ Jones.

There’s a few showcases, too, like Comedy Good Time to check out.

Plenty on offer.

Never a dull night. Be good. Take care.

What do you love about Melbourne?

The people listen to you.

That’s really nice.

If they’re interested in the show they’ll have a chat in the street, and are really friendly like that.

I guess that’s the mood of Comedy Festival, too.

It fosters a friendly attitude, which is great for the audience and public to have.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

Fat Cat.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

The show is a true story.

The research is accurate.

The jokes work everywhere.

You’ll have fun and probably learn something new, or at least it’s a tale you won’t hear anywhere else.
