YOUR GUIDE TO THE MELBOURNE COMEDY FESTIVAL

What have you been up to of late?

The Breast of the Fest is a line-up show featuring the six self-appointed sweethearts of the Melbourne comedy scene. The Breasts have been on ABCTV, 3RRR, Channel 31, SYNFM, and on Josh Earl’s very popular podcast Don’t You Know Who I Am? We also draw boobs on our shirts, but please don’t objectify us because we take our art very seriously.

Who should see your show, and why?

Anyone who wants to be able to brag that they saw [INSERT NAME OF SOON TO BE VERY FAMOUS COMEDIAN FROM BREAST OF THE FEST] before they hit the big time, had a massive falling out with their co-stars and then reunited for a quick cash grab reunion tour.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Stay hydrated! Go and see someone you’ve never heard of! Support women in comedy!

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

Ferocious — ferocious stand-up from the exquisite duo of Rhi Down and Aurelia St Clair.

Bella Green Is Charging For It — one of the funniest shows from last year’s Melbourne Fringe, where it was also nominated for Best Comedy.

People will be selling their kidneys on the black market to get tickets to see this show so book ahead!

It’s Talkie Time With Jackie Lime — look, it’s hard to explain this one.

It’s a late-night talk show that is utterly cooked and bloody hilarious.

Expect special guests. Expect absolute nonsense.

Sweet Potatoes — Melbourne comedy darlings Elyce Phillips, Gamze Kirik and Donna Collins are joining forces for a show of sketch and stand-up that’s probably the most unique split show you’ll see at this year’s festival.

Have you ever wondered how many hot dogs Elyce Phillips can fit in her mouth?

Buy a ticket to find out.

What stands out to you about Melbourne?

We love Melbourne and know it well, so here’s a hot tip: the John Curtin is the best pub in the city.

Cheap beers, delicious food, and great music.

It’s also located just across the road from Trades Hall, where, unrelated, you can see The Breast of the Fest from March 28-April 21.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

Donna Collins. One of the most talented comedians you’ll ever see, and also one of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. A name to keep an eye on.
