Silliness and tomfoolery are a winning combination for award-winning comedian Josh Glanc, who also just wants to be loved.

What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

I got a four-star review from The Guardian in London.

That’s the Guardian people, they don’t dish out those stars so easily, so you can expect bloody brilliance can’t you.

What have you been up to since last time you were here?

I’ve been performing at the Comedy Festival since it began in 1987.

My 1999 show about an ant called Mr Ant, who falls in love with a toe was a big hit, but I really think that this year’s show is going to be even better!

Who should see your show, and why?

People that like to go to shows and watch the best thing they have ever seen in their lives would probably enjoy it.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Sit with your arms crossed, with an unimpressed look on your face, and occasionally put your rude finger up at the stage.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

Simpson Armstell and Jimbles Acaster, because they are very good, they are also at the same time as my show (7pm Town Hall people), so I may have to miss one of my shows to see them.

What stands out to you about Melbourne and/or its people?

Given its proximity to Tasmania, Melbourne is all about Polynesian delicacies, like Laulau and poi.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

I used to watch Franco Cozzo’s stand-up routines all the time as a kid, he’s a great social commentator.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

I would very much like you to come to my show because, I’ll be honest, all the above bravado is just masking a deep insecurity I have about whether people like me, and at least if people come, for those brief 60 minutes, I’ll think that they do.

JOSH GLANC, GLANCE YOU FOR HAVING ME, MARCH 28-APRIL 21, MELBOURNE TOWN HALL BACKSTAGE ROOM. BOOK TICKETS
