Comedian Q&A
Don't miss out on the headlines from Comedian Q&A. Followed categories will be added to My News.
What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?
It’s my Melbourne debut but its my fourth touring hour, so it’s all the best bits from my first four shows. It’s good. Fun, funny, and dirty.
NEWBIES AND RISING STARS TO WATCH
BRITISH AND IRISH COMEDIANS TO SEE THIS YEAR
What have you been up to since last time you were here?
I’ve been in comedy six years. Started in Perth and just moved here. I’ve done a bunch of touring and stuff but I’m really excited to move to a real city.
I used to be a neuroscientist (bad at it) soldier (terrible) and hallucinogenic drug enthusiast (v. good at this one).
Who should see your show, and why?
If you like funny, dirty stand-up you’ll enjoy the show.
If you only like clean comedy probably don’t come. I’ve been on line-ups/opened for Ari Shaffir, Duncan Trussell, Brian Posehn, The Dollop podcast etc. so if you like that style of stuff you’ll probably like me. Also Reggie Watts (there’s some loop machine stuff in the show).
What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?
Have fun.
Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?
Michelle Wolf (killer, world class). Fern Brady (same). Maria Bamford (ditto).
There’s also a bunch of awesome Australian comics like Becky Lucas, Cameron James, Nick Capper and heaps more.
What stands out to you about Melbourne and/or its people?
Shops don’t close at 6pm (Perth sucks).
Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?
There’s a bunch, but Ari Shaffir’s been a huge influence on me.
I love that punchy, dirty, storyteller style and for sure its part of my comedy DNA.
Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?
Nobody knows me in Melbourne so please, please come.
