THE A-Z OF COMEDIAN Q&AS

YOUR GUIDE TO THE MELBOURNE COMEDY FESTIVAL

The new multi-award winning and critically acclaimed circus show has audiences of all ages across the country laughing and crying.

The timeless treasure is a triumphant tale of trials and tribulations told through slapstick and vaudeville.

Tell us about you.

Originally from Melbourne, I have spent the better half of my life following the dream of a travelling performer.

I have been part of La Soiree and Circa, I am part of a Sydney Opera House touring kids show and am also known for playing Jango from Hoopla Doopla.

I have worked for the Humour Foundation as a Clown Doctor and performed regionally around Australia and toured internationally.

Who should see your show, and why?

I am wanting families who are tired of taking their children to see the standard kids show, that as a parent they are going to be bored at.

I have a story to tell, my aim is to touch people’s hearts and get them to question their beliefs.

I love hearing about conversations parents are having with their kids after the show, you’d be surprised what they take away.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Take a risk, see something different, you might be pleasantly surprised by what you enjoy, there are so many young comedians who are writing and performing and have something to say.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

I saw Josh Glanc in Perth this year and my face was sore from laughing. I’m also a massive fan of Otto & Astrid from Die Roten Punkte.

I want to see a show that people are saying you have to see it because it was out there.

What do you love about Melbourne?

Coming back to Melbourne is always like coming home even though I’ve been away for so long.

I love the fact that when I come to visit I can walk the streets and bump into friends, my favourite places to eat are still there and I can explore a new nook that has been activated.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

I have always been a fan of the variety style performers and their comic timing. It has been a pleasure to meet some retired performers on my travels, hearing first hand some of their stories and learning some of their skills.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

Mr. Gorski is a nod to my family history and their survival during the occupation of Poland in the ’40s and the propaganda that they had to deal with.

In saying that, it’s always aimed to be a kids show for adults and an adult show for kids, it’s something you can take your child and your grandparent to.
