What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Tunes and Tales is a combo of my improv comedy team, HillnDale and improvised band the LD50s.

People can expect lots of amazing music and some hilarious comedy all completely unique and made up right on the spot.

BRITISH AND IRISH COMEDIANS TO SEE THIS YEAR

TOP COMICS REVEAL THEIR FAVOURITE COMEDIANS

Tell us about you.

I’m brand new to MICF, I’m an animator based in Melbourne but I’ve been trying my hand at improv comedy for the past three years or so.

Finally I’ve reached the point of taking the next big step and trying out a comedy fest show, it’s all very exciting.

Who should see your show, and why?

If you are into slightly absurd, surreal humour or wholesome content with a dark twist.

It has a sort of adult swim, cartoon but adult feel. You’re getting a completely improvised show that no one has seen before or will see again, so if you’re into that exclusive content come along and experience in-jokes that no one else will ever understand.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

My top tip for seeing the best stuff at comedy fest has got to be support people who are doing it for the first time, especially improvised shows that contain a band and five white guys.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

I’m very keen to see I Want You by Cindy Salmon, she’s a real growing name in the community and I’ve heard some rumours her show this year is an amazing cabaret spectacular. Also, there’s a cool sketch show called Space Force that seems like an amazing showcase of talented ladies.

What do you love about Melbourne?

I’ve lived in Melbourne for almost 10 years and it’s such a lovely chill vibe here, everything is right on your doorstep and it’s so easy to find the next cool thing by just wandering around. The city is just buzzing whenever there’s a big event on like comedy fest. I’ve always loved walking past the town hall and feeling that comedy energy.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

I love Shaun Micallef for his sort of zany but clever comedy, he has an almost cartoony element to his comedy that appeals to me.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

Please come see it. We need to pay off our venue so if people could come along that’d just be so nice.

DALE ANDERSON, TUNES AND TALES, MARCH 28-APRIL 7, TIC SWANSTON, ROOM 502, 37 SWANSTON ST (THE NICHOLAS BUILDING). BOOK TICKETS
