Being best mates helps when there’s two comedians sharing the stage just for a laugh, says Bobby Macumber, of The Dykeside.

What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Two best mates and talented comics sharing the stage for an hour of comedy, songs and fun.

Being best mates off stage helps the chemistry on stage as we two bounce off each other non-stop for an hour.

What have you been up to since last time you were here?

I haven’t performed a solo show in the MICF for three years (four solo shows previously), but have been touring with The Dykeside for the past three years.

COMEDY LEGENDS WITH BRAND NEW SHOWS THIS YEAR

The Dykeside has been performed at gay festivals across the country including SpringOut (Canberra), Feast (Adelaide), Chillout (Daylesford) and Midsumma (Melbourne).

During the summer I’m contracted with Cricket Australia as the official on-field host for all T20 international cricket matches across Australia.

You’ll see my face on the big screen warming up the crowd with Dance Cam or interviewing players and fans on the sidelines.

I’m also ‘the voice’ at all One Day Internationals, making me the first female voice of men’s international cricket!

Who should see your show, and why?

This is the most fun you’ll ever have at a comedy show! Big call ... but DAMN we know how to have a good time on stage together.

It’s a ‘straight friendly’ show, in fact my second cousin is straight and Lori once worked with a straight dude so ... yeah? We support all comedy audiences.

It’s silly and funny with some ridiculously hilarious Disney parodies about our personal lives.

What’s your No. 1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Don’t be embarrassed to laugh loud.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

Hannah Gadsby because she’s the hottest thing in comedy right now.

Michelle Wolf because I loved her speech at the White House Correspondents Dinner and love her on Late Night with Seth Myers.

Anne Edmonds because she is one of the funniest people ALIVE.

Have seen most of her shows (this year will be her fourth solo show that I’ve seen). She just oozes funny.

What do you love most about Melbourne?

This is the best time of year to be in Melbourne. The city is alive, there are so many different shows to see and the venues range from theatres to a lounge room above a bar in Chinatown. The city is a buzz of fun for a month.
