Forget the yummy mummy — comedian Bev Killick is the Crummy Mummy. And she’s not afraid to laugh while giving a reality check on the joys of looking after kids.

What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

Pretty much spilling my guts on all things parenting.

From pregnancy, their births and ridiculous stories.

Who should see your show, and why?

Parents! Would-be parents.

What’s your No. 1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

Wear flat shoes so you can run to the next show. Go and see an upcoming act and support the new comedians.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

I always catch Anne Edmonds’ shows, so this year will be no exception.

I find her so fresh and natural.

I always laugh way out loud.

I’m also going to check out Urzila Carlson, DeAnne Smith and Georgie Carroll, who are all mates I’d like to support and rave about afterwards.

What do you love about Melbourne?

It’s so easy to get around on a tram or by foot.

There’s so many great hidden bars and places to eat on any budget close to any given venue.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

I’m the daughter of a butcher, so I heard a lot of jokes at home.

I realised early on I could stave off bullies if I could make them laugh.

I performed most lunch times at school.

My biggest inspiration is Joan Rivers.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

I am a chronic op-shopper/hoarder and I give away kids’ clothes at the end of my show. There’s also a few door prizes.
