What can people expect from your show at this year’s Melbourne International Comedy Festival?

This is our fifth year at the Famous Spiegeltent.

Luke and I are back with more jaw-dropping magical show pieces all tied together by a story about two boys stuck in detention at Magic School.

TOP COMICS REVEAL THEIR FAVOURITE COMEDIANS

The audience gets involved in creating some ingenious magical fixes to the boys’ problems. Expect a fair amount of crowd involvement, where unlike most audience participation, the young viewers are actually delighted to be involved.

Who should see your show, and why?

We challenge ourselves to entertain all-age brackets equally.

Kids love the rambunctious story of two boys creating magic solutions to their every day problems like homework and school detention, and grown ups are flabbergasted by our gobsmacking magic.

Our day jobs are gigging magic for corporate crowds, and we love the look on the parents faces when the show suddenly transitions from being entertainment for their kids to being something genuinely jaw-dropping for them too.

What’s your No.1 tip for people coming to see a show at the comedy festival?

If you’re planning to see multiple shows in one night, mix up the styles of comedy.

Each show acts as a palate cleanser for the others, and you won’t end up feeling bloated from too much of a good thing.

Which other comedians/shows are you keen to see at this year’s festival, and why?

Maria Bamford and Daniel Kitson are high on the list.

Who or what is your comedic inspiration, and why?

I love magicians who manage to combine unbelievable magic with perfectly tuned comedy and story telling.

There is a unique power to this mix, because the sense of disbelief and wonderment added by the magic is unlikely anything the best comedians can provide.

Anything else you want us to know about you or your show?

The show may involve vanishing parents, but we do guarantee that all grown ups will be returned at the end of the show.
