THEIR goal is the same — to land as many punchlines as they can.
But footy-mad comics Dilruk Jayasinha, Tegan Higginbotham and Dave Thornton won’t know which way to turn when the 2018 Melbourne International Comedy Festival collides with the AFL’s giant Easter round.
Thornton, a devoted Cats fan, said: “Covering both is not easy mate, but if you plan your weekend carefully, it can be done.
“Just needs focus, stamina and going in hard on the jokes.’’
This year’s comedy festival boasts a record 612 shows.
Dilruk’s Bundle of Joy and Thornton’s So What Now? are up first, on March 29.

And like Higginbotham, who is part of a late-night sketch show opening in April, they’ve been getting match-fit for months.
Thornton, co-host of Fox Footy’s The Beep Test, said: “I’ve tried out all my jokes in regional areas. Now I’m ready for the big one to kick off.’’
