LARRY DEAN: LURID SCOT’S HILARITY PACKS A PUNCH

She has been writing songs for 10 years and performing comedy for eight, and Cosgriff regales us with her favourite tunes from the past 10 years. A song, Cosgriff informs us, is like a time capsule of her life: in her early 20s, Cosgriff was a waitress. Cue Waitress/Actress, a number from her very first show.

AUNTY DONNA: POWDER KEG TRIO A CLASS ACT

NIKKI BRITTON: TELL ’EM THEY’RE DREAMING, GRANDMA!

The evening’s set boasts umpteen musical highlights, including: the whimsical To My 16-Year-Old Self; the toe-tapping fantasy about a woman by the name of Felicia Coco; and Regular Lady, a thumping, yet ironic, rap/party anthem par excellence.

Despite confessing to being a procrastinator with a chronic fear of failure, this performer boasts she can write a song in an hour, and this evening, Cosgriff achieves that feat, writing and performing before our eyes, a salty sea shanty about Jack and Megan, two audience members, who are also competitive sailors.

Discerning musical theatre audiences will love this cracker-jack cabaret show, and will leave the theatre with smiles on their faces and humming that damned catchy last tune from Cosgriff’s set!
