Coldplay’s Chris Martin’s wild final Sydney gesture

Chris Martin has just finished a string of sold-out Aussie shows and his final act is … not for the faint hearted.

Coldplay’s Chris Martin, who also “consciously uncoupled” from Gwyneth Paltrow, was seen putting on quite the display at Sydney airport.

The 47-year-old stopped to greet fans before leaving Australia in a private jet, but before he fled, he stopped to perform one questionable, unhygienic act.

The British band has been thrilling fans in Melbourne and Sydney with sellout shows, and Martin has a unique way of showing his appreciation.

Before boarding his private plane, the rocker got down on the tarmac and kissed the ground.

It’s hard to know if it was a loving gesture as a farewell, a kiss to endorse Australia, or if he was just overcome with emotion, but either way, Martin can be seen kissing the tarmac.

Anyone who’s been to an airport knows that it’s a little bit gross. Imagine all the equipment, people, and random things scrapped across the tarmac daily.

Still, it’s quite a grand gesture.

Martin kept in casual in a long-sleeve white T-shirt, beanie and track pants for the PDA moment.

So at least he didn’t ruin his good clothes by kneeling on a gravelly tarmac.

The loving gesture comes after Martin revealed why he hadn’t toured Australia extensively since 2016, before coming back for two concerts in Perth last year.

Martin told Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium concertgoers that he hadn’t been back Down Under much because of a negative review.

“We haven’t been to Melbourne and Sydney and Brisbane for quite some time. “I’m going to tell it, f**k it,” he said.

The 47-year-old explained that he was put off after reading a man complain about the band’s gig at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, which took place in December 2016.

“The reason we haven’t played [here] for quite some time is, I made the mistake eight years ago. I looked at the press, and a gentleman wrote an article saying that he lived next to the stadium, and he said we ruined his night,” he said.

“So I was like, ‘Oh s**t’.”

He went on to thank Australia for supporting the band’s current Music of the Spheres tour but added a cheeky apology to anyone’s night the band was “ruining” because could hear the music from outside the stadium.

Martin than shared the big lesson he’d taken from the experience, which was, unsurprisingly, to ignore the haters.

“What I learned from that, is its OK if someone doesn’t like you,” he said.

If Martin’s display at Sydney airport is anything to go by, the rocker has clearly kissed and made-up with Australia.
