Prince William, Kate Middleton to move to Windsor Castle estate

Prince William has not recovered from Prince Harry and Meghan quitting the royal family, amid claims he froze out his estranged brother during Jubilee celebrations.

There is a ‘lot of tension’ between Prince William and Harry

Prince William is still “deeply upset” about Harry and Meghan quitting the Royal Family, a friend of the future King has said. The Duke of Cambridge reportedly spent “no time” with his brother during the Platinum Jubilee celebrations last week.

The brothers were both at St Paul’s Cathedral for the Service of Thanksgiving last Friday but otherwise did not interact, The Sunday Times reports.

They were seated on opposite sides of the room, giving an insight into how their roles have changed.

And Harry and Meghan’s exit from royal life is still said to be raw for William.

A friend told The Times: “He’s still deeply upset about it and feels let down, but he’s moved on.”

According to The Sun, a friend acknowledged Wills had been tense before the jubilee and was particularly worried for the service of thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral - the only event the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attended publicly.

They said this was “because he was incredibly worried about having all the family there, and what everyone was going to say.”

The friend added: “He was so relieved that most of the media made it all about the Queen, Prince Charles and the children — they are the key people — and he was really pleased about that.”

It’s believed the Cambridge children did not get to meet their cousins Archie, three, and one-year-old Lilibet last week.

It comes as Prince William is marking his milestone 40th birthday by moving his family from London to Windsor.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to enrol their children Prince George, 8, and Princess Charlotte, 7, at a private co-ed school in the county of Berkshire.

Prince Louis, 4, who charmed the world with his Platinum Jubilee antics, will join his older siblings when he starts school.

The area is also home to the Duchess’s parents, the Middletons, who live in Bucklebury, a 45-minute drive from Windsor Castle, The Sunday Times reports.

The Cambridges reportedly plan to move to a house on the Queen’s Windsor estate in the coming months and will eventually move into “the big house” — Windsor Castle — as Prince Charles does not plan to spend much time at Windsor when he is king.

Kensington Palace will remain the Cambridges’ London home, housing their private and press office, and Anmer Hall, their home in Norfolk home, will still be used regularly, according to the report.

“They absolutely love it up there, it’s their happy place,” a friend of William’s told The Sunday Times. “Their future plan is to make Anmer their more permanent base “after the school years”.

William and Kate have appointed hot-shot PR guru Lee Thompson as their new communications secretary who will start at Kensington Palace soon, The Sunday Times reports.

Thompson, 34, is currently vice-president of global communications and strategic partnerships at the American media and entertainment company NBC Universal.

It is hoped that this experience will help with the planning of the Cambridges’ US visit later this year for William’s environmental Earthshot Prize awards ceremony.

After Prince Harry’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey last year, a senior royal aide admitted: “We have a US problem.”

The Cambridges are looking forward to the added freedom for their young children that the vast, secure Windsor estate will provide, The Sunday Times reports.

“The reality is they are quite confined in what they can do in London,” says a friend. “The kids can’t go into the park and kick a football with friends. Their plan is to be there for the next 10 to 15 years, then move to Anmer, which is so special to them.”

A friend of William’s told The Sunday Times that the future king was feeling the pressure as “he knows the future [of the monarchy] rests on his, Catherine’s and his kids’ shoulders”.

“There is a sense of the future accelerating towards him, which is tinged with profound sadness — though he would never say it publicly — because of the implication that his grandmother would no longer be around, the added pressures on his father and his family being under even more scrutiny.”

Prince William, who turns 40 on June 21, and Prince Harry reportedly did not spend any private time together over the Platinum Jubilee, with the fallout from Megxit still raw for the future king.
