Who wears it best? Meghan and Kate’s different maternity styles
Royals Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, have very different approaches to staying fashionable during pregnancy. We take a look at their maternity chic.

Don't miss out on the headlines from Royals. Followed categories will be added to My News.
One is a discount duchess mixing high street with high end and the other a designer diva, cladding her bump in the very best.
Here’s a look at how Catherine and Meghan do maternity chic.
MEGHAN, DUCHESS OF SUSSEX
Favourite brands:
As it’s Meghan’s first pregnancy and she has a neat bump, she’s determined to do it in style, not swapping any of her Hollywood glamour for comfortable maternity wear.
She looked super-chic at the British Fashion Awards in London on Monday, wearing a bespoke Givenchy one-shouldered black shift dress that cost at least $7000.
At the Royal Variety Performance in London last month she paired a sequined halter-neck top by Safiyaa, $1570 with skirt, $1500, adding a strap above her bump.
A few days later, she wore a burgundy Club Monaco coat, $666, and matching shift dress, $316, for a visit to the Hubb Community Kitchen in West London.
For everyday wear she’s choosing wrap and shirt dresses (always good with a waistline that’s growing) such as the Martin Grant olive-striped shirt dress, $1800, and the Veronica Beard blue shirt dress, $835, she wore in Tonga in October.

Maternity style secret:
Meghan likes high-end brands paired with a statement coat — often draped on her shoulders, cape-style, which admittedly only keeps your back warm but means you don’t have buttons straining over a baby bump.
Shoes: Meghan is still rocking high heels. On Monday she wore towering Tamara Mellon gold sandals and regularly sports her black Aquazzura pumps.
She has also embraced the foot-friendly wedge beloved by Catherine, wearing Castaner espadrilles in Australia as well as Rothy’s black flats.
Get the look for less: While Meghan’s picks are brutal on the average budget, witchery.com.au has a striped wrap dress for $159.95 and soonmaternity.com has a Julia one-shouldered maternity dress for $159.95.
CATHERINE, DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE
Favourite brands:
Catherine is the mistress of pregnancy dressing, having done it three times. She mixes traditional maternity brands such as Seraphine, JoJo Maman Bebe and Asos Maternity, with designer favourites like Jenny Packham, Mulberry and Catherine Walker, as well as Topshop Maternity skinny jeans.
In March she wore a green bespoke Jenny Packham coat and matching dress, estimated at $5000, to a symposium at the Royal Society of Medicine, and a cream coat by JoJo Maman Bebe, $120, to a primary school in Oxford.
At the BAFTAs in February, she went for a bottle green Jenny Packham empire line gown, $3900.
Maternity style secret:
Catherine — as in her everyday dressing — mixes high street brands with high-end pieces. She has sported Asos Maternity and Topshop Maternity through her pregnancies.
She wore a $61 spotty Asos dress in Woolwich when pregnant with Princess Charlotte in 2015 and a $67 Topshop polka dot dress while pregnant with George in 2013.
Shoes: Catherine wore high heels to the end. At her last appearance in March before going on maternity leave with Prince Louis she teamed Topshop Maternity jeans with Stuart Weitzman pumps and in February she sported Jimmy Choo heels to an event at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.
Get the look for less: Luckily, Kate’s outfits are budget-friendly. Asos.com has maternity dresses from $30 and topshop.com has comfy maternity jeans from $63. jojomamanbebe.com has maternity dresses from $62 and Seraphine.com from $80.
