The royal family sparkle in the official photos of Prince Louis’ christening

THE Duchess of Cambridge looks every bit the gushing mother in stunning portraits with baby Prince Louis, as the Royal Family release official photos from his christening.

Prince Louis has been christened

THE official photographs of baby Prince Louis’s christening have been released overnight in London.

Photographer Matt Holyoak, who took the portraits of the Queen and Prince Philip last year for their 70th wedding anniversary, was chosen to be the official photographer.

In one photo, Kate and William are joined by their children, along with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall, and the Middleton family including Kate’s sister Pippa Matthews and her husband James. Members of the royal family appear in another photo without the Middletons, a third photo features the Cambridge five, and the fourth photo is an image of just Kate and Louis.

Holyoak has worked with a host of celebrities and his photos have regularly been splashed on the covers of magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Shortlist and Dazed and Confused.

The photographs were taken at Clarence House, the home of Prince Louis’ grandfather Prince Charles, after last week’s christening service at the nearby Chapel Royal in St James’s Palace.

Louis was sound asleep as he was carried into the Chapel Royal by Kate for the christening ceremony, which lasted 40 minutes.

Prince Louis, the third child of Prince William and his wife Catherine the Duchess of Cambridge, was born in London on April 23.

He is a younger sibling to Prince George, 4, and Princess Charlotte, 3 and is fifth in line to the throne.

The little prince wore a christening gown made by Angela Kelly, the dressmaker to the Queen.

The replica gown has been used since 2008 for babies born into the royal family and is an exact replica of one first worn in 1841.

With Prince George and Princess Charlotte joining their parents for Louis’ big day, it was the first time the Cambridges were seen together as a family of five.

The six godparents, who also attended Luois’ christening with their spouses, are all friends or family of William and Kate.

They include Guy Pelly, once dubbed the “court jester” to William and Harry for his wild ways that were often cited as a bad influence on the brothers in their youth, running their favourite drinking haunts.

Louis’ other godparents are: Nicholas van Cutsem, whose family is close to the royals; William’s school pal Harry Aubrey-Fletcher; Laura Meade, who is married to William’s close friend James Meade; Kate’s schoolfriend Hannah Carter; and the duchess’s cousin Lucy Middleton.

Welby used the Lily Font, commissioned by queen Victoria for the baptism of her first child in 1841.

Louis is fifth in the line of succession to the British throne after his grandfather Prince Charles, his father William, George and Charlotte.

He is one of Queen Elizabeth’s seven great-grandchildren.

The sovereign and Prince Philip will return to London from the monarch’s private Sandringham estate in eastern England on Monday.
