Super high party heels are trending as the social season returns. And designers are going to insane new heights in the name of fashion.

Exclusive: Super sexy high heels are back in vogue, signalling the return of “going out” fashion.

Demand for “disco heels” has spiked significantly according to trend forecaster Lyst, and after months in lockdown wearing sneakers and slides, stilettos are higher than ever.

“Global searches for high heels grew consistently from May and ‘disco heels’ spiked 233 per cent in the same month,” Lyst’s Year In Fashion 2021 report stated.

Heels are high on fashion’s agenda, from square-toe styles by Bottega Veneta to chunky Saint Laurent platforms and Loewe’s bizarre cracked egg shell stilettos (Loewe’s creative director Jonathan Anderson said of his experimental designs: “If you’re going to reset after this period, you need to allow a moment to birth a new aesthetic”).

Celebrity stylist Kate Young said the return of party heels signalled a renewed interest in dressing up.

“I love wearing high heels – to go to a party, that’s a symbol of fun for me and feeling like I made an effort,” Young, who counts Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez among her A-list clients, said.

Afterpay ambassador Young added: “I am thrilled to wear heels again”.

Mega influencer Rozalia Russian is taking affordable heels to new heights, designing a pair of extreme 12cm-high stilettos as part of her Rozalia x Billini collection.

“The highest heel is a 12cm which is the Naked sandal and also The Lace Up,” Russian said, of the collection which had 150,000 hits on Billini’s site before it launched.

“The 12cm isn’t for the faint-hearted but it is perfect for those wanting to make a statement,” Russian said.

On the slightly shorter end of the scale is Rozalia x Billini’s The Mule, which is 9.5cm in height.

“The Mule being a slightly lower heel means that you could wear it to breakfast in Italy, a lunch time pool party in Palm Springs or a chic dinner party in Melbourne.

“Post-lockdown I have vowed to always overdress and put my best heel forward no matter what time of day.”

Russian said wearing heels after a lockdown-induced break was “almost like learning to ride a bike again”.

“A few wobbly steps but then you will be off and dancing,” she said.

So what is Russian’s advice for surviving a night out in extremely high heels?

“Always insert Party Feet (gel cushions) into the heels,” she said. “And you also can’t go wrong with a couple of glasses of champagne to help your feet feel happier.”

Designed virtually over Zoom during lockdown, the Rozalia x Billini capsule collection features six styles priced from $99.95 to $129.95.

Rozalia x Billini is available now via Billini and The Iconic.
